Alva, Florida, is a small, unincorporated community located in eastern Lee County along the banks of the Caloosahatchee River. Steeped in history and rural charm, Alva is one of the oldest settlements in Southwest Florida, dating back to the late 1800s. It is known for its quiet, country atmosphere, scenic riverfront views, and spacious properties, making it a favorite among those seeking a peaceful, slower-paced lifestyle. With its oak-lined roads, historic buildings like the Alva School (built in 1914), and close-knit community feel, Alva stands in contrast to the busier urban areas to the west.

Alva offers access to outdoor recreation such as boating, fishing, and kayaking along the Caloosahatchee River, and is close to several preserves and parks, including the Hickey Creek Mitigation Park and Caloosahatchee Regional Park, which offer hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife observation. Though rural, Alva is only a short drive from Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, providing access to shopping, dining, and other amenities. The area also has deep agricultural roots and is dotted with citrus groves, cattle farms, and equestrian properties. Alva’s blend of natural beauty, historic character, and quiet living makes it a unique and treasured part of Florida’s Gulf Coast region.
